Probate and Estate Administration

Once a family member passes away, his or her estate (regardless of whether it contains a valid will or trust) must be handled in accordance with Texas probate laws. What is called estate administration, the assigned executor of an estate must make an inventory of all assets (both personal and real property) owned by the decedent. All debts are paid off and then the remaining assets are then designated accordingly to all beneficiaries. When there is no will, the estate must go through probate under intestate laws.

Estate administration can be quite a complicated process. Having an experienced Georgetown probate attorney handle these matters for you is extremely beneficial. You can have peace of mind knowing that the estate is being handled by a legal professional and thoroughly managed.

As your attorney, I will make sure that your loved one's estate is thoroughly accounted for and that the estate is executed in accordance with specified state laws as well as any valid will your loved one had in place. If you have been named the executor, I can also represent you and help you through what can be a time-consuming and complicated process.

I handle all types of probate and estate administration services, including:

  • Necessary sale of real property of estate
  • Appraisal of estate assets
  • Identifying assets
  • Settling debts/liabilities with estate assets
  • Paying any taxes owed (estate and income taxes)
  • Distributing remaining assets to proper beneficiaries
  • Will contests/disputes
  • Probate litigation
